Beautiful skin under the sun: how to take care of your skin when on holiday

We all love a good holiday relaxing by the pool, soaking up the sun and having the only important decision of the day being where to take your pick for dinner. However, there can also be a downside to what happens to our skin whilst we’re away. We’ve compiled a list below of our top tips and product recommendations to help you take care of your skin should you face any problems whilst away.

1)   Sunburn

Sunburn is caused by overexposure to the sun’s UV rays. It’s one of the most common travel problems whilst on holiday. The best way to try and protect your skin from burning is to always apply sunscreen 15 minutes before heading out into the sun. Always try to make sure that your sunscreen has a minimum SPF of 30. Our Soothing Skin Gel would be highly recommended to anyone suffering with sunburn, as two key ingredients used are aloe vera which is commonly used as the perfect natural remedy for sunburn and plantolin, which is also used in all of our other products. It helps to soothe, rehydrate and repair rough, dry and damaged skin.

2)   Peeling

Peeling is our body’s way of getting rid of dead skin cells. Peeling can be caused by a number of issues such as sun damage, dry skin and relating skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. There are different ways that you can try and prevent it, such as making sure you’ve put on sunscreen before going out in the sun, making sure that you keep your skin hydrated and that you are using some form of moisturiser so that it doesn’t get dry. Enriched with all natural ingredients, our Skin Balm helps to reduce irritations, dry and damaged skin as well as reviving stressed skin.

3)   Pigmentation

Pigmentation is caused by an overproduction of melanin, which is the substance that provides colour to the skin as well as protecting it from the sun. Special cells in the skin produce melanin, so when these cells become damaged or are overexposed to too much sun hyperpigmentation occurs. There are a number of products available to help with pigmentation such as our hydrating facial serum, which is a light, non-greasy oil based serum, which penetrates the skins much deeper layers and leaves your skin hydrated and healthy.

4)   Heat Rash

Hot, humid weather conditions are usually the cause of heat rash, which is accompanied by a rash, redness and itching amongst other symptoms. It usually only lasts for a few days but can be irritating. Wearing loose clothing can definitely help to not add to further irritation, as well as keeping skin nice and cool with a cool shower or bath to soothe the skin. The Soothing Skin Gel would be another highly recommended product if you find yourself suffering from heat rash.
